متن کاملOverexpression of CLC-3 in HEK293T cells yields novel currents that are pH dependent.
ClC-3 is a member of the ClC family of anion channels/transporters. Recently, the closely related proteins ClC-4 and ClC-5 were shown to be Cl(-)/H(+) antiporters (39, 44). The function of ClC-3 has been controversial. We studied anion currents in HEK293T cells expressing wild-type or mutant ClC-3. The basic biophysical properties of ClC-3 currents were very similar to those of ClC-4 and ClC-5,...
متن کاملIntrarenal and cellular localization of CLC-K2 protein in the mouse kidney.
CLC-K2, a kidney-specific member of the CLC chloride channel family, is thought to play an important role in the transepithelial Cl(-) transport in the kidney. This consensus was first reached shortly after it was demonstrated that the mutations of the human CLCNKB gene resulted in Bartter's syndrome type III. To clarify the pathogenesis, the exact intrarenal and cellular localization of CLC-K2...

متن کاملChloride channel protein 2 prevents glutamate-induced apoptosis in retinal ganglion cells
Objective(s): The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of chloride channel protein 2 (ClC-2) in glutamate-induced apoptosis in the retinal ganglion cell line (RGC-5). Materials and Methods: RGC-5 cells were treated with 1 mM glutamate for 24 hr. The expression of ClC-2, Bax, and Bcl-2 was detected by western blot analysis. Cell survival and apoptosis were measured by 3-(4,5-dimeth...
